Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Bathinda
The Takhat Sahib Damdama is one of the well-known 5 Takhts or temporal authority seats of Sikhism. The Gurudwara is located in Bhatinda, Punjab and is the same place where the 11th Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singhji prepared the whole Guru Granth Sahib in the year 1705. The Gurudwara keeps antique objects like portraits, stamps, guns, magical mirrors and the dress soaked in Guru Gobind Ji's blood. A miniature match box and Guru Granth Sahib can also be found here.
Guru Ji stayed at this very Gurudwara for about a year during which he added several verses to the Adi Granth. Many converts become a part of the growing Khalsa followers here.
Followers believe that on the event of Baisakhi, Guru Ji baptized lakhs of followers and till date, the same custom is followed by devotees.
History
The Takht Sri Damdama Sahib adjoins the Darbar Sahib. It marks the same site upon where Guru Gobind Singh Ji regularly held his assemble during his stayed here. At this very place, Guru Ji untied the band on his waist on a platform surrounded by beautiful Kareer trees. Guru Tegh Bahadur was sure that this Gurudwara would be adorned with the presence of great minds, theologians, scholars and copyists. His prophecy later was proven to be true. This is why Sikhs came in from near and far to be alongside their 10th Guru. Mani Singh, Mata Sunderi and Sahi Devan were all Guruji's well known escorts who got separated post the Anandpur evacuation. Guru Gobind Singhji requested Mani Singh to draft the renewed copy of the scripture under his watchful eye. The area where this was done is till date shown to visitors and pilgrims.
