Gurudwara Ghani Khan Nabi Khan
Gurudwara Gani Khan Nabi Khan is located in the town Machiwara of Ludhiana District in Punjab State of India. Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited this place as he traveled to Gulabe and Punjabe’s house. At Machiwara, there were two brothers who were horse dealers, called Gani Khan and Nabi Khan. They used to supply horses to the Holy Guru at Anandpur. These Muslim brothers had great admiration for Guruji. When Guruji visited this place they gave all assistance to him, particularly guiding him and aiding him safely to traverse the distance because it was a time immediately after the battle of Chamkaur which happened in 1705. For this Guruji had to disguise himself as a Sufi saint wearing a blue colored apparel. It is at this place that the particular dyer who was amazed with the powers of Guruji, became his devotee too
The Holy Guruji happily accepted the service of these devotees Gani Khan and Nabi Khan at Machiwara and gave Hukumnama to them at Gurudwara Alamgir sahib situated nearby. The photocopy of which has been kept at the Gurudwara as a relic.
Besides Gurudwara Gani Khan Nabi Khan Sahib, there are few other famous Gurudwaras situated in Ludhiana district, to most of them Guru Gobind Singhji has made his visit.
History
Around 1705AD, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was traveling in Ludhiana part of Punjab and was passing through Machiwara after visiting Gulabe and Punjabe’s house. The horse merchants of Machiwara Gani Khan and Nabi Khan came to know of it and requested him to visit their house to bless them, which Guruji agreed. These merchants already had contacts with Guruji as they were supplying horses to him at Anandpur. As it was a period of turbulence in that area, they wanted the Guru to be safe during his travel and wanted him to disguise himself with a blue colored dress. For this purpose they called a dyer to die his cloths into blue. The dyer informed them that a ‘matti’ had to be made ready for preparing the die and he would require three days’ time to make such an earthen pot. For this Guruji responded to him that the Matti is ready for him already, which the Dyer found to be true. Realizing the supreme powers of Guruji, the Dyer sought his blessing and also shared with him of his difficulty to make both ends meet with his earnings. Guruji blessed him and informed him that the matti in which he had dyed his cloths would become a matti which would produce any die as he thinks in mind, without requiring him to add any new color material and other ingredients. The location where the Dyer was blessed is now Gurudwara Chaubara Sahib which is about 500 yards from this place.
The Muslim brothers had their good deeds recorded in the Hukumnama during Guruji’s stay in Machiwara for 2 days and the location where this happened is now Gurudwara Alamgir Sahib. The relic of the photocopy of that Hukumnama is kept in the Gurudwara Gani Khan Nabi Khan Sahib.
During this tour, Guruji also visited Gurudwara Kirpan Bhet Sahib, which is 2 km away from this Gurudwara and Gurudwara Katana Sahib as he was proceeding to Alamgir.
