Gurudwara Tahli Sahib
Located in the district of Nawanshahr, the Tahli Sahib is growing up as one of the most visited Gurudwaras in the region. Festive season tend to attract even more locals as well as tourists to this renowned shrine.
History
Although much concrete history about this particular shrine is not known, it is believed that this Gurudwara is built in the memory of Baba Sri Chand, the elder son of Guru Nanak Dev. It is also said that Baba Sri Chand did meditate in this shrine for a period of 40 days.
The rise of several Gurudwaras over the years has brought in millions of tourist in this area as well and today several important shrines are situated in the area around Nawanshahr.
Architecture & Covered Area
The basic architecture of the shrine is in the form of a hall which has a high tower at one end. The tower of this shrine is iconic and is visible to the passers on the road adjacent to it. The use of marbles on the floors as well as walls of the Gurudwara gives off quite an elegant feel. The Tahli Sahib is considered to be one of the important shrines in the region and there also are several other important shrines in the region that are visited by millions of devotees year round from across the globe.
Location and Surroundings
The Tahli Sahib is located just a little away from the Garhshankar road in Nawanshahr in Punjab. The location of this Gurudwara can also be described as the bifurcated road from State Highway 18.
The region is considered to be one of the chief religious sites in Punjab. Some of the important shrines in this region include the Gurudwara Manji Sahib, Gurudwara Bhai Sikh Hiyala as well as the Gurudwara Singh Sabha.

During the festive seasons of Magh Mela and the birthdays of several saints, the Gurudwaras are visited by devotees from far flung areas of the country to offer their prayers in the shrines in Nawanshahr.

Although Punjab is seen to be filled with tourists throughout the year, but some of the best months to visit the region are the winter months of November to March.
Travelling to Nawanshahr
By Air
Nawanshahr doesn't have an airport, but the nearest airport is at Chandigarh and one can catch a flight to Chandigarh airport from almost all major Indian cities. From there one can travel to Nawanshahr via road or rails.
By Train
Nawanshahr has its own railways station that is well connected with the neighboring districts of Kapoorthala, Rupnagar, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur.
By Road
If travelling by road then one can hire a cab for the 92 kilometers drive away from Chandigarh. Cab services are plentiful from Chandigarh and many tour operators also provide private bus transfers during the peak season.
