Gurudwara Sehra Sahib
GurudwaraSehra Sahib, dedicated to Guru Arjan DevJi, is situated in the Sultanpur Lodhi city of Kapurthala District, at a distance of 35 km from Amritsar city. It is managed by the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) through a local committee.
History
In 1604, Guru Arjan DevJi, while on his way to Dalla for his son (Guru) HargobindJi's wedding, halted at Sultanpur for a night. The 'baaraat' (marriage party) stayed here overnight and the 'Sehra' was fastened round the groom's head here. Thus the Gurudwara gets the name 'Sehra' Sahib.
Architecture
GurudwaraSehra sahib is domed octagonal room surrounded by a brick-wall compound. Guru Granth Sahib is seated in the main sanctum.
