Gurudwara Babangarh Sahib Ropar
Kiratpur Sahib, where Gurudwara Babangarh Sahib is situated, is in the Ropar district of Punjab in Nangal-Rupnagar-Chandigarh road and it is known for many historical events of prime importance.
The location of Gurudwara Babangarh Sahib at Kiratpur Sahib is the place where Sikhs carry the ashes of their departed souls for immersion in Sutlej River, which is considered Holy because three Holy Gurus of Sikhism were cremated here and their ashes were immersed in the river here.
Kiratpur Sahib also houses a few other Gurudwaras which a pilgrim will like to visit.
Kiratpur Sahib is also famous because of a Sufi Saint Pir Buddan Shah who was a legendary to have lived a long life of 800 years.
History
Kiratpur Sahib, which is around 7 km distance from Anandpur Sahib, was founded by the 6th Guru of Sikhism Sri Hargobind Sahib, in 1672AD. Gurudwara Babangarh Sahib was constructed in later constructed to commemorate the holy place and the Punjab Government erected a memorial here to honoring Guru Gobind Singhji in the form of a pillar inscribing his message over the martyrdom of his father and the Ninth Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib.
The Sixth Sikh Guru Shri Har Gobind Singh lived his last years of life in this place, when the Seventh and Eighth gurus Guru Har Rai Sahib and Guru Harkrishan Sahib were born here. It is at Kiratpur that the Tenth Guru Shri Gobind Singhji received the sad news of his father's martyrdom at Delhi and received the mortal remains carried by devotee Bhai Jaita from Delhi to this place. Guru Gobind Singhji took his father’s head in procession to Anandpur for cremation.

How To Reach
Kiratpur is in Ropar district is easily reachable from Rupnagar, the nearest popular airport is Chandigarh Airport at about 60 kilometers distance from Rupnagar.
By Train, one can reach Rupnagar from Delhi in about 6 hours by using the Delhi-Ambala-Una railway line passing through Rupnagar.
Rupnagar is about 42 kilometers from Chandigarh, well connected by road through National highway NH-21. It is at 290 km distance from Delhi through highway, which involves road travel in NH-1 from Delhi to Chandigarh and then to go along NH-21 to reach Rupnagar via Kurali.
