Gurudwara Chheharta Sahib
The care and management of the Gurudwara are in the hands of Shiromani Prabandhak. Special events are the main attractions for the visitors. A fair is held in every lunar month. A large gathering visits the fair and takes blessings from the Guru.
History
The name Chheharta resembles six Persian Wheels. The main reason behind this name was that the Gurudwara consist of a huge well. The well used to give an abundant supply of water. It was so big that six Persian wheels were attached around its circumference for simultaneous operations.
Now, the well has been covered but still its water is used to fill the tanks in the Gurudwara.
Architecture
Gurudwara Chheharta Sahib is built on 6 acres of land. Main complex of the Gurudwara has a big hall having square shaped sanctum in the middle. This sanctum is surrounded by a palisade and its top consists of a square room. This square room has a gold plated pinnacle of lotus dome. Two flags are also fitted on the top of Gurudwara.
How to Reach
As Gurudwara Chheharta Sahib is situated in Amritsar so, it is easier for the tourists to follow any route for the Gurudwara.
Air routes involve national and international flights to Amritsar. There are few direct international flights available to Amritsar.
Rail network connects Amritsar all over the India. It is very easy to reach here through rail. After that road route will drop you few steps away from the Gurudwara.
