History
Establishment of Gurudwara Lakhnaur Sahib was dedicated to the Sikh Guru who arrived at this place in his childhood. There is a story about the prophecy of a local Muslim preacher, late Sayeed Bhikhan Shah in Thaska near Thanesar who had dreamt about the birth of the 10th Guru. The arrival of Sikh Guru indicated that dream coming true. His dream was for birth of prophet called Gobind at Patna where the Muslim scholar went to pay respects to the child Guru at that time. Such stories of Sikhism and its connection with Muslim and several other religions are well known in the region.
As the child Guru came to Lakhnaur from Patna he already had ample followers at this place. It was at that time a decision was taken to build Gurudwara in his memory. Gurudwara Lakhnaur Sahib has developed into a prominent Sikh shrine in the region where devotees arrive in large numbers every day. Present day Gurudwara Lakhnaur Sahib has been extended from a small structure due to increase in the number of devotees.
This Gurudwara remains a symbolic shrine with complete dedication to the Sikh religion's 10th and most powerful Guru. An important factor to note is that Lakhnaur was the ancestral home of Guru Gobind’s mother, Mata Gujri. It was here that he used to come during his childhood days. Perhaps such personal factors make this place more pious and an important place for Sikhs.
