Gurudwara Chintaharan Dukhniwaran is situated at holy Sarsaiya Ghat in Kanpur city. It is considered the oldest gurudwara in Kanpur city. Actually, Guru Tej Bahadur Singh was travelling to Assam through Patna Sahib when he stayed at Sarsaiya Ghat in Kanpur city.
According to some narration Guru Tej Bahadur Singh visited Kanpur by road. He continued his exploration through the Ganges River. He slept on the bed during his 2 day stay in Kanpur. That bed is still in full display at Gurudwara Chintaharan Dukhniwaran. The main pradhan of Gurudwara Chintaharan Dukhniwaran actually played a main role in the restoration of the structure after 1984. The gurudwara was completely renovated with modern design and styling after 1984. The overall idea was to give a fresh and new look to the structure
