History
Guru Gobind Singh accompanied by his family members and followers came to this place after being evacuated from the Fort of Anandpur Sahib, in the early hours of 6th December 1705 AD, upon the agreement made with the Mughal forces including Rajput Chiefs and Mughal overlords, who had promised not to disturb the Sikh members on their return tour. However, as Guruji's team was about to reach the banks of Sirsa River, it was attacked by a strong contingent led by Wazir Khan, the then Governor of Sirhind, while at the same time another detachment of the Mughals caused assault on the first batch of entourage who were halting on the river bank. Upon this, fierce battle took place resulting in most of Guru's followers losing their lives.
This incident was followed by the Guru getting separated from his family members and proceeding towards Kotal Nihand along with his two elder sons and about 40 followers. The Holy Guru’s mother Mata Gujri Ji and Guruji's two younger sons were taken care by Gangu, an old domestic servant and all of them rushed to their native village, Saheri near Morinda. Guruji’s wives Mata Sunderi and Mata Sahib Devi moved to Delhi disguising as rustic women. These incidents of separation from family happened to Guru at the very place where this Gurudwara has been constructed which is known as Parivar Vichhora Sahib and was constructed between in the year 1963-1975.
