Gurudwara Bhai Sikh Nawanshahr

There are different approaches to worship God and receive His blessings. However, Baba Bhai Sikh of Jhingran village in Nawanshahr district of Punjab advocated worshipping of God in a unique way. He said that serving humanity is the best way to worship God and every human being should take that choice.

Gurudwara Bhai Sikh which is located in Hiyala village of Punjab exists in honor of Baba Bhai and it is situated in the lower region of Nawanshahr.

This Gurudwara is particularly popular for the fair held every year just after the Dussehra festival. Legends convey that Baba Bhai Sikh lived in Jhingran Village for some period where he used to meditate, also imparted religious education to people living here.

History

The village Hiyala houses the beautiful Gurudwara called Baba Bhai Sikh. This place is known for a big fair which is held every year just after Dussehra.

This Gurudwara follows a myth connected with Baba Bhai Sikh, a native of village Jhingran, moved here to graze cattle. He started living in this place and apart from tending to his cattle, he used to meditate during his spare time. He would also give spiritual discourses to the people. In his discourses, he used to drive home a principle that serving humanity is the greatest form of worshipping of God.

The place where Gurudwara now exists was once the residence of Baba Bhai Sikh thus draws a large number of pilgrims in Nawanshahr.

How To Reach

The Gurudwara Bhai Sikh is located in about 19 Km distance from Nawanshahr and the town is popularly known as SBS Nagar. A traveler can reach this place by 92 km road travel from Chandigarh.

There is a railway station at Nawanshahr which is closer to Garhshankar-Balachaur, located in 1.5 Km from Garhshankar-Anandpur Sahib link highway in Village Chandpur Rurki. Bus transport from Amritsar to this place is plenty.

For an air traveler, Amritsar Airport is nearer Nawanshahr can be in about 11 km distance. The Chandigarh and New Delhi air ports are also convenient destinations from where a traveler can commute by road to reach this place in about 2 hours and 6.5 hours respectively.
