Gurudwara Baba Bakala Amritsar
Gurdwara Baba Bakala is situated in Amritsar in the state of Punjab. It must be observed that Guru Harkrishan before dying declared that his heir can be explored at Bakala. Moreover, when Sikhs moved there they were opposed by 23 members of Guru Harkrishan's family each declaring they were the real Guru. In the meantime, a rich businessman Makhan Shah actually had his ships transporting precious goods caught in a ferocious hurricane at sea. Makhan Shah vowed to give 500 gold coins to Guru Harkrishan if his goods and products reached home safely. The vessels reached port securely and Makhan Shah travelled to Bakala to pay reverence to Guru Harkrishan. When the businessman finally reached Bakala he was opposed with the similar predicament as to who is the real Guru? Makhan Shah being a clever businessman decided that he will pay reverence to all the 22 claimants and put 2 gold coins before them as mark of respect. When Makhan Shah had visited the entire Gurus, a kid pointed that a sacred man lived some meters across the street. He decided that he might as well give him accolade also. When he entered the home he saw Guru Tegh Bahadur in complete meditation.
History
A rich businessman Makhan Shah was informed that Guru Tegh Bahadur who lives here in calm meditation for several years did not want to receive travelers and visitors. The businessman actually waited until he got a chance to meet Guru Tej Bahadur. Makhan Shah placed 2 gold coins in front of him. At this point Guru Tegh Bahadur smirked and said happily to Makhan Shah, "I believe that you had promised 500 coins". The businessman became so excited that he fell down in front of Guru's feet and began screaming from the house roof "I have found the real Guru!" Hearing this all the Sikhs moved to the home of the calm saint. When they heard the complete narration there was extensive rejoicing for several days.
