Gurudwara Tharhaa Sahib Patshahi Chevin
There are many gurudwaras located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. A large number of visitors come to these places to seek the blessings of their gurus. One such holy place is the Gurdwara Tharhaa Sahib Patshahi Chevin which is situated in the Baramullah district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The rich heritage of the Sikh gurus is still preserved within its framework of mortar and concrete. This Gurudwara is located in the village of Singhpura, in the district of Baramullah in Jammu and Kashmir. The Sikh guru, Guru Hargobind Singh Ji, visited this place once. After his departure, a Shrine was made to commemorate his visit and it was named Gurudwara Chevin Patshahi Tharhaa Sahib. Before his arrival, a platform made of mud or concrete, which is referred to as a "Tharhaa" existed in that particular spot and was referred to as Tharhaa Sahib.
History
Like every religious monument, Gurdwara Tharhaa Sahib Patshahi Chevin also has a history of its own. The Gurudwara Tharhaa Sahib Patshahi Chevin was built in the year 1930 by Bhai Veer Singh, who was a devoted believer of the Sikh religion.
There is a story which enhances the glory of the Sikh guru, Guru Hargobind Singh Ji, and also lends an aura of mystifying devotion to this place. It is said that when Guru Hargobind Singh Ji came to this place, he was welcomed very warmly by a Muslim saint by the name of Bahlor Shah, who treated the guru with utmost reverence. However, Bahlor Shah was also shrouded in misery, the reason of which he confided in the Guru. Bahlor Shah was distressed with the shortage of water in those areas which was the cause of hardships of many residents were subjected to. Upon knowing the concern, Guru Hargobind Sing Ji, accompanied by Bahlor Shah, went on a walk towards the hill. At a certain point, Guru Hargobind Sing Ji took out his "Barcha", and pointed it to a particular spot on the ground and claimed that there was water underneath. To honor the Guru's claim, a well was dug, and surprisingly enough, there was a stream of clear sweet water in abundance. Such was the power of Guru Hargobind Singh Ji.
That well is still used by many people in and around the village and it fulfils their need of water and eases their hardships.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Gurudwara Tharhaa Sahib Patshahi Chevin is in the summer months. The adverse weather condition of Jammu and Kashmir makes it unfavorable for a visit during winter. You can reach Jammu and Kashmir by air or by road, depending on the weather condition. Make sure you brace yourself for the extremities of high altitude, chilly weather and dangerous roadways on your way to Jammu and Kashmir.
