Gurudwara Reetha Sahib
Gurudwara Shri Reetha Sahib is placed at about 209 kms from Gurudwara Shri Nanakmatta Sahib and has its importance due to the reason that Guruji had blessed this place by his visit. Reetha (Soapnut) tree has gained importance since it was the place where Guruji used to take shelter and had conducted many spiritual discussions with the local Gorakhpanthi Jogis. When Bhai Mardana Ji requested for food, Guru Sahib advised him to refer to the Yogis, who in turn denied him of the same and advised Bhai Mardana Ji to ask for food from Guruji himself. The yogis purposely did this to test the spiritual powers of Guruji. The Reetha fruit which is normally bitter was found to be very sweet when Bhai Mardana ate and this was the miracle of Guruji’s spiritual power. Incidentally, the fruits from Guru’s side were sweet whereas the same at the side of Yogis were bitter. The infuriated Yogis made a snake run around the tree with their powers. The snake froze upon Guruji’s look which again proved his powers. One can find Reetha fruit to be sweet even today which is distributed to the devotees as Prasad and the tree adores the Gurudwara Sahib premises.
