Gurudwara Nanakwadi
Gurudwara Nanakwadi Sahib is located in Vadodara city of Gujarat state. It has become an important landmark in this region. This wonderful Sikh shrine is equally denoted with other names such as Gurudwara Nanak Varhi or Nanak Wadi. Existing since several centuries now, this Sikh shrine remains a key location where both local Sikhs and those from various other parts of the country visit regularly.
History
The history of Gurudwara Nanakwadi is truly impactful indeed. It is said that the religious leader cum preacher of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev had arrived at this place in 1515 and it was built in his memory. As him being the first Guru of Sikhism had visited this place, it became an important center of Sikhism. Establishing this Gurudwara was considered a crucial step to dedicate the arrival of the Sikh Guru at this place.
Sikh’s Guru Nanak Dev had been travelling from Baroach in the way to Rajasthan and he had stayed here for some time. The main purpose behind the establishment of Gurudwara Guru Nanak Varhi was to ensure that the memories of the first Guru could be well preserved here. Daily prayers and the events held inside it turned it into a well-developed shrine today.

Best time to visit
Vadodara witnesses three seasons namely summer, monsoon and wintertime. March to July are summertime period when temperature becomes too hot with the average reaching up to 36°C and minimum at 23°C. Once monsoon arrives from June to September, the climatic condition changes drastically with extreme humidity and maximum temperature rising to 46°C on many days. Once heavy rainfall starts, temperature goes to normal.
When wintertime arrives from November till February end, the average temperature comes down to 15°C to 30°C. Usually it remains mild so one may plan to visit here accordingly. Do ensure to carry your clothes accordingly.
