Gurudwara Shri Baoli Sahib Zirakpur
The tenth and last guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh had fought successfully in the battle of Bhangani and come to Paonta Sahib. His ultimate destination was Anandpur Sahib; however he visited Raipur Rani and Nada Sahib on his way. The village of Dhakauli was on the pathway to Anandpur Sahib and when he reached here, there were hosts of devotees waiting to see him and seek his blessings. This was because this village was primarily dominated by a Sikh population and secondly the founder of this village Baba Guruditta Ji was the first son of the sixth son of Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. Guru Gobind Singh was quite a popular person among the Sikhs; therefore lots of people had come to seek his blessings. The Guru enquired the villagers about the facilities and comfort offered at the village. Chaudhry Ishar Das was one of the chief disciples who went to visit the Guru Gobind Singh.
When the Guru asked about the comfort of the villagers, Chaudhry decided to speak out and spoke about the lack of water facilities in the village and that the villagers had to travel to the River Sukhna for fulfilling their thirst. Guru Gobind Singh usually had a weapon in his hand called Barchha. Once he heard about the water scarcity in the village, the Guru analysed the lands of the village with his Barchha. Suddenly at one particular place, the Guru pointed to one point of the ground with his weapon. At that very instant, clear water started pouring out from the soil, brining immense joy to the villagers. The villagers started respecting the Guru like their God. The Guru not only magically produced water but also provided funds for setting up the venue for providing water to the entire village. It was the Guru who named the place Baoli Sahib
There was another devotee, Bhai Kripa Ram Singh who had come with his wife Deesan to meet the Guru. The couple had tried long for a child; however they faced a strange problem where their kids died within 8 days or 8 months of birth. The Guru knew their problem even without them telling; however he still asked the couple what their problem was. The couple explained their unique problem and asked the Guru to treat them of their condition. The Guru told them to come to Baoli Sahib and take a holy dip at Baoli Sahib either on the Amavas day (new moon day) or the Ikadasi (the day next to Amavas) so that all their problems get sorted out. The couple did as advised by the Guru and to their surprise, they realised that their disease was gone as they were soon blessed with a healthy boy baby.
Later on in the day, the Guru asked one of his disciples, Bhai Diwan Chand to say aloud the "Rehras Guru" and retired for the day after the "Ardas". The Guru also arranged for the ceremony of "Asa Di Vaar" was done at Baoli Sahib. After the ceremonies, the Guru met people, offered blessings to the hundreds of people who came to visit him, shared his teachings and then arranged for distribution of Prashad. After completing all the activities, the Guru then proceeded to Gurudwara Nada Sahib, upon the reminder of his disciple, to meet the Muslim elderly person Dargahi Shah. Therefore, Baoli Sahib is considered to be one of the most sacred places for the Sikhs as this was the venue where the Guru exhibited magical powers for the welfare of the villagers.
