Historic importance of Gurudwara Badshahi Bagh in Ambala city keeps it in national and international limelight. History
Gurudwara Badshahi Bagh in Ambala has its historic importance since existence. It is one of the major centers of Sikh religion where the Gurus had arrived to express their views on human relationship and Sikh religion. Ever since this famous Gurudwara had established, the tradition of organizing huge festival on the occasion of Baisakhi remains a common practice in this place. The value of this key location is also noticeable due to it being the birthplace of Khalsa Panth. Perhaps, such are the key factors that remain important. They literally turned this Gurudwara into the prominent Sikh shrine.
The records of establishment of Gurudwara Badshahi Bagh in Ambala were literally lost in the leaflets of history. An initiative by the erstwhile Sardar Mehar Singh of Nishananwali Misl to re-establish it thereafter remains notable. The Gurudwara was once again destroyed during 1857 mutiny while British used shells to overpower rebel forces. Sant Gurmukh Singh of Patiala rebuilt this Gurudwara afresh in the year 1931. The present structure of this Gurudwara is an outcome of a reconstruction which was held under the guidance of Nirmala sect saints in the post independent era. This sect has its control over the Gurudwara even today.

This Gurudwara, being dedicated to the prominent Sikh Guru-Guru Gobind Singh, is a major center of Sikhism. The huge campus of this shrine is spread over the 3 acres of area. Dome shaped roof of this Gurudwara looks unique so does the appealing front yard garden of its campus.
Celebrations
Grand Baisakhi celebration remains a center of attraction in Gurudwara Badshahi Bagh in Ambala. It is the birthday celebration of the Sikh Guru and is celebrated with great zeal. Major attraction of this celebration is 'langer' or the free meals offering to everybody visiting there, no matter rich or poor, on this special day. The Nirmala Sect of Sikh community manages the shrine and encourages for the active involvement of masses in various such events. Most of the devotees visiting this shrine also ensure they have a dip in a tank nearby as a part of showing respect to the Sikh Guru.
