Gurudwara Hatt Sahib
Gurudwara Hatt Sahib is situated in the Sultanpur Lodhi city of Kapurthala District. It is dedicated to Guru Nanak. This place gets importance as Guru Nanak Ji used to work here in the store of a Nawab. Stones that Guru Sahib used as weights are kept in this Gurudwara.
History
In his young age, Guru Sahib's family convinced him to accept the job as an accountant, which Nawab Daulat Khan Lodhi offered at his Provision store on being recommended by Guru Sahib's brother in law Jai Ram. His hard work during the daytime and songs praising God impressed the Nawab very much. According to a story, once while weighing some goods, Guru Sahib stopped on the number 13, known as 'tera' meaning 'yours' in Punjabi. People around him thought that he had gone mad and will incur loss to the store. However, the store made profits like never before.
Architecture
The Gurudwara building comprises of a hall with a square sanctum in the center. There is a square room with lotus shaped dome over the sanctum. A gold plated finial lies atop the dome. The thirteen polished stones of varying sizes, believed to be used by Guru Sahib are displayed in a glass cabinet.
