Gurudwara Manji Sahib Manimajra

Gurudwara Manji Sahib is a holy place of worship for the Sikh devotees. It is situated at the town of Manimajra in Chandigarh, Punjab. This Gurudwara is also known as Gurudwara Manji Sahib Mata Raj Kaur. It is 2 kilometers east from Chandigarh. People pay homage to this utmost sacred place of worship. The Gurudwara is famous as Shri Guru Govind Singh Ji visited this place.

History

Gurudwara Manji Sahib Mata Raj Kaur has been named after Mata Raj Kaur Ji. She was the wife of Ram Rai. She was very upset with her husband and due to the mental turmoil she left Dehradun and came to Manimajra. She stayed at Manimajra and started worshipping Guru Nanak Dev Ji as she was a great devotee of him.

Seeing her worship and dedication, people started believing in her and became her disciples. The number of devotees increased day after the day. On one of the rainy days, the beam of her house collapsed and she asked one of her followers to go the rich man of the town Bhaara Mall. She informed about the beam and it was about to collapse.

But, Bhaara Mall didn't respond to her. Then Mata Ji sent other follower to another person of the town. She asked her follower to visit to Garibu Jatt. After hearing the matter, Garibu Jatt provided the trunk of the Ber tree and placed underneath the beam. So, Mata Raj Kaur Ji pleased with his devotion and asked him for a boon. Garibu Jatt revealed his wish that his coming generations become the king. And Mata Ji gave him a boon that they will become kings. Because of that boon, Garibu Jatt became the king and Bhaara Mall had to work under his kingdom.

Architecture and Covered Area

Gurudwara Manji Sahib Mata Raj Kaur has a small area. The Gurudwara is in Mata Ji's residence where she lived for long time in Manimajra. She left the world and her entombment was built. The place is called as Gurudwara Dehra Sahib.
