Gurudwara Manji Sahib

History
The Gurudwara Manji Sahib is one of the important religious shrines located in the city of Nawanshahr. Its history doesn't have much to offer about the beginning and rise of the Gurudwara, but as a legend goes, Guru Teg Bahadur Ji stayed at this place while on his journey towards Kiratpur. Along with him other important persons of Sikh religious like Mata Gujri, Balaki Rai, and Bhai Mati Das were also accompanied Teg Bahadur Ji during his stay.
Much information about when the shrine was first built and developed is not available; although it was due to Teg Bahadur Ji's visit that made this place gain importance as a holy shrine which is bringing in millions of devotes every year to Nawanshahr.
Architecture & Covered Area
Taking a look at the monument from even a distance, it would tell the magnificence and the care that was taken in constructing it. Just beside the Phagwara-Mohali Express Way, we have the Manji Sahib Gurudwara. The big hall covering a vast area is topped up with two domes. One is the larger dome placed at the center of the hall on top and the other smaller for ornamental purposes is on the front end of the entrance.
The white shade of the marble used in the construction gives off a sense of elite and exquisite nature. The walls and the floors are covered with white marble and several structures are designed on the windows and ventilations in the form of patterns. This shrine is predominantly quite compared to several others shrines that are seen in this area.
Location and Surroundings
Located at the coordinates 31°7'59.16" N & 76°6'55.62"E, the Gurudwara is among the most famous and important ones in Nawanshahr region. Manji Sahib is located at about 800 meters away from main Bus Terminal on Jattan Mohali road.
Other important shrines that are around this place are Gurudwara Bhai Sikh Hiyala and the Gurudwara Tahli Sahib. These are among the shrines getting recognition in India and abroad as a result, millions of tourists flock to this region every year to offer their prayers in order to seek blessings in Manji Sahib.

By Air
Nawanshahr doesn't have an airport, Chandigarh is the nearest airport that is served daily by major airlines. From Chandigarh, one can take a train to Nawanshahr or can travel by car.
By Train
Nawanshahr is well connected by trains to some of the major districts in the region namely, Kapoorthala, Rupnagar, Jalandhar as well as Hoshiarpur.
By Road
One can take the road from Chandigarh to Nawanshahr at a drive of about 92 kilometers. Hiring a car is possible from Chandigarh and most tour operators also arrange bus services during the peak season.
