Gurudwara Chhoti Sangat
Gurudwara Chhoti Sangat is situated in the throbbing city of Kolkata, India. The name 'Chhoti Sangat' means small. This could be the smallest Gurudwara in the world. It is located in a home. It is near narrow the Bhuteshwar Gali. Though its area is small, the devotees come in large number and pray whole- heartedly to the Master.
History
Gurudwara Chhoti Sangat is divine and pious place. The devotees have strong belief that the Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Govind Singh visited this place. This Sikh temple has its own importance as the smallest Sikh community place. The two Masters of Sikhism bestowed this place by paying their utmost visit. Therefore, this place is an attraction amongst the Sikh community.
People from all around the world come here and feel blissful visiting this place. They spend their time in praying and doing rituals. It gives them peace of mind and serenity because there is a hand-written Granth (holy book) by Guru Granth Sahib. It depicts the year 1777. The Agrahari Sikhs look after this Gurudwara.
Architecture and Covered Area
As per the name it clearly suggests its covered area. The Gurudwara Chhoti Sangat is in a private home. So, it has a narrow space. However, the devotees come with pure belief and feel blessed. There are two floors and a square compound. Nirmala Sadhu takes care of this holy Gurudwara Chhoti Sangat. This Sikh temple is in the first floor.
Celebrations
Gurudwara Chhoti Sangat is maintained by the only community Kolkata - The Agrahari. This community does arrange a procession called Holla Muhalla. But, the Kolkatians celebrate most of the festivals of the country. Kolkata is also famous for the fairs. It is a colorful and vibrant city. People thoroughly enjoy and live their life.
