History

Reetha is one of the trees. Guru Nanak Sahib took a rest under this tree (Reetha). So, now-a-days, this place has more importance. People from all over the world come here to feel divine peace and experience inner joy.
Also, people strongly believe that Guru Nanak Sahib spent time with the devotees of Shri Gorakhnath. When Guru Nanak Ji was asked for food, he also asked to the Gorakhnathpanthi to have food. But they denied and asked Guru Nanak to eat the food of Reetha. Guru Nanak asked to Bhai Mardana to have the fruit of Reetha. Reetha fruit is bitter in taste. However, when Mardana tasted the fruit by obeying Guru Nanak's request it was sweet in taste. Then Guru Nanak ate that fruit. The fruit of the Reetha was sweet only on the side of Guru Nanak where he seated.
The devotees of Gorakhnath became angry and through their power they set a snake on the tree. But what can happen when a real Master is there. Guru Nanak looked at the snake and it froze there. Today, the visitors eat the fruit and still it is sweet in its taste.
