Gurudwara Chhadar Sahib Bharuch

Gurudwara Chhadar Sahib in Bharuch is a memorial which has been built to honor Baba Nanak’s visit during his journey. Bharuch is synonymously known as Baroch which is located in Gujarat. It is situated at the mouth of the river Narmada. It is also the administrative headquarters of Bharuch District.

History

It was in the 15th century that Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh guru, visited Bharuch.

The story tells us that upon refusal by a boatman to take him across the river Narmada, he crossed it over on a cloth sheet or chadar. It was for this reason that the Gurdwara Sahib was later on renamed as Chadar Sahib. The Gurudwara was later built in Kasak area on the site where he landed in Bharuch. Gurudwara Chadar Sahib in Baroch was built to honor Baba Nanak’s visit when he was on his missionary Journey. It was from this point that Guru Nanak Dev continued his onward journey to North India.

Best Time to Visit

There are many pilgrims who visit the city of Bharuch so that they are to pay obeisance at the temple. It would be possible for you to visit the temple throughout the year. By Air

It will be possible for you to reach the city of Bharuch from the airport which is conveniently located in Vadodara.

By Rail

Bharuch has its own railway station and it is this factor which will connect it with all of the major cities in the Central and Western India. Surat and Vadodara station are the other major stations.

By Bus
