Gurudwara Manji Sahib Distt Kurukshetra

Gurdwara Manji Sahib is located in village Cheeka of Kurukshetra district. It has been built in the memory of the sixth and ninth Gurus of the Sikh. It was Sri Hargobind, the sixth Guru, who graced this place while he was on his way to Gurudwara Nanakmata. It was also Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Guru, who visited this place. Gurudwara Manji Sahib has a checkered history. This is because it has been built in the memory of two of the greatest Sikh Gurus. Being located in Kurukshetra, the Gurudwara was able to get its due recognition.

History

When Guru Hargobind Singh came to know that Kalu Chaudhri’s descendants were looking after the site which honored Guru Nanak Dev Ji's visit, he gave to them 500 gold coins so that they could build a decent place. It was Bhagtu who was a descendant of Kalu Chaudhri and he bought the land so as to fulfill the Guru's instructions. While going to Delhi, Guru Tegh Bahadur came here. It is this Gurudwara where memorials of three Gurus can be seen.

Celebrations

The Maghi fair is celebrated here with great enthusiasm. This Gurudwara is known for the manjis which are also known as the memorials of three Gurus. The Maghi fair is also celebrated with great pomp and show.

Location

Gurdwara Manji Sahib can be found in the Main Bazaar in Pinjore on the Chandigarh Simla Road close to the Pinjore Gardens. It is the location which makes any historical site reachable. It is also able to give it its importance.
