Peni
Brief Description
Pathir Peni is a famous crispy sweet which is made of maida or rava and is also known as Peni or Chirotti. The peni/ chirotti is very delicious and crispy.To maintain its crispness it can be stored in an ait tight container. Chirotti rava is used to prepare this recipe which is also termed as fine rava. If chirotti rava is not present then take the ordinary rava and grind it finer using a mixer grinder. In any function of Karnataka, badam milk is used for serving chirotti.
Time required to prepare 10-15 minutes Time required to cook 20-30 minutes Serves 4 Ingredients For Peni
- 1cup : Rava/ Sooji
- 4tsp : Ghee
- 2tsp : Rice Flour
- Salt-a pinch
- Oil For Frying
- Powdered Sugar for sprinkling
How to make Peni
- Take rava and grind it fine. Add 2tsp ghee and salt in it and nicely rub it so that it becomes crumby.
- Add adequate quantity of water to make a loose dough.
- Use a damp cloth to cover it and set it aside for about 1 hour.
- Take rice flour and 2tsp ghee and mix it well to a frothy paste.
- Make 15 equal size balls from the dough.
- Take each ball and roll them into a thin disc and cover it.
- Take the disc and place rice flour paste on it and then on the top place another disc.
- Repeat the same with 3 more discs.
- 5 discs should be present in a stack.
- Now roll it nicely into a tight log.
- Take the log and cut it into 4 equal pieces
- Now take each piece and roll them into a thin disc.
- Take a kadai and heat oil in it.
- Allow the disc to fry on medium flame until it becomes crisp.
- When it is warm, Sprinkle powdered sugar on it and cool it.
- Use badam milk for serving and enjoy it.
