Time required to prepare 10 minutes Time required to cook 45 minutes Serves 4 Ingredients For Manoharam
- Rice : 2 cups
- greengram dal (moong dal) : 1 cup
- pinch of salt
- hot ghee or oil for mixing : 1 tbsp
- cardamon powder : 1/2 tsp
- powdered jaggery : 2 - 2 1/2 cups
- refined oil for frying
How to make Manoharam
- Take green gram dal and rice and roast them separately and then powder it finely using a mixer. Take 1 cup dal flour and 2 cups of rice flour.
- Mix cardamon powder and salt into the flour. Add hot oil/ghee and mix it well. Add enough water to make a soft dough. Cover and keep it aside.
- Take a kadai and heat oil in it. Pour the dough in the chakli press and press it on top of the oil until kadai is half filled of the oil. Fry till it turns golden brown in color.
- Take a greased bowl and transfer the prepared thenkuzhal in it. Now break it into small pieces and keep it aside.
- Prepare jaggery syrup. Add 1 cup of water into the powdered jaggery and boil till it completely dissolves. Remove it from the heat. Now allow the syrup to cook again till it becomes a soft ball. Add cardamom powder and mix it well.
- Remove it from fire. Take the bowl of thenkuzhal pieces and add syrup in it and mix it well ensuring that all pieces get well coated with jaggery syrup. Serve it or if you like you can also make large ladoos when it is warm.
