Badam Halwa
Brief Description
Badam Halwa is generally considered as one of the royal dish. It is a famous and delicious Indian dessert which is made with almonds. It can be prepared very easily and does not require many ingredients to prepare it but requires time to make a tasty Badam Halwa. While preparing the Halwa you have to stir it continuously ensuring that it does not burn. Serve the Badam Halwa to your family and friends and enjoy it.
Time required to prepare 10-15 minutes Time required to cook 20-30 minutes Serves 4 Ingredients For Badam Halwa
- Almonds : 1/2 cup
- Sugar : 1/2 cup or 3/4 cup if you want more sweetness
- Milk : 1/2 cup
- Ghee : 1/4 cup ( in Chitti's recipe, it was 1/2 cup ghee)
- Saffron : a pinch/ few strands (soak it in a tbsp of milk)
- Kesari color : a pinch for color (optional)
Preparation
- Soak almonds in water for overnight and remove the skin or boil it in hot water for sometime and remove the skin.
- Take almonds and 1/4 cup of milk and grind them to a fine paste.
How to make Badam Halwa
- Take a kadai and melt ghee in it and set it aside. Take the same kadai (since it is coated with ghee, halwa will not stick at the bottom of the pan) and add 1/4 cup of water in it and bring it to boil. Now turn of the stove, add sugar in it and allow the sugar to completely dissolve.
- Add kesari color, saffron, badam paste and remaining milk in it and allow it to cook on medium heat and stir it continuously.
- When it starts getting thickened and sides starts becoming dry and flaky then add all the ghee in it except 2 tsp of ghee. Allow it to cook on low heat and stir it continuously.
- Turn off the stove when the ghee is fully absorbed and the halwa starts leaving the sides of the pan. Now add 2 tsp of ghee in it which is left and keep stirring for 3-4 minutes so that the halwa becomes softer when it is cooled.
- Allow it to cool so that the halwa gets thickened. Now the badam halwa become very soft and delicious. Serve and enjoy it.
