Chicken Shawarma
Brief Description
Chicken Shawarma is an ultimate dish. It is usually prepared with thinly sliced meat, wrap up it in a pita bread along with veggies and delicious sauce.
Preparation Time 15 mins Cooking Time 20 mins Serves 4 Ingredients for Chicken Shawarma
- Boneless and skinless chicken breasts r thighs - 1 1/2 lbs
- Plain yogurt - 1 cup
- Vinegar - 1/4 cup
- Crushed garlic cloves - 2
- Pepper - 1 tsp
- Salt - 1/2 tsp
- Cardamom pods - 2
- All spice - 1 tsp
- Lemon juice- 1
- Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp
For The Sauce
- Tahini - 1 cup
- Crushed garlic - 2 cloves
- Lemon juice - 1/4 cup
- Yogurt - 2 tbsp
- Olive oil – 1 tbsp
- Fresh chopped parsley – 1 tbsp
- Pepper and salt to taste
Pita Fillings
- Pita bread - 4 large
- Onions – thinly sliced
- Tomatoes – thinly sliced
- Shredded lettuce – 4 cups
How to make Chicken Shawarma
- Mix vinegar, vegetable oil, yogurt, all spices, salt, cardamom, and pepper in a large bowl. Put the chicken thighs into the mixture and marinate them. Cover the chicken thighs and keep them into the refrigerator for about 4 hrs or overnight.
- Now preheat the oven to 350°F. Mix tahini, garlic, olive oil, yogurt, lemon juice, and parsley in a bowl. Sprinkle pepper and salt over it acc to your taste. Now cover the bowl and let it cool into refrigerator.
- Now cover the thighs of marinated chicken and bake for about 30 minutes. Turn the chicken and uncover it. Cook the chicken for about 5 – 10 more minutes. After the chicken is cooked cut it into thin slices.
- Now in the pita bread put tomato, lettuce, onion, and sliced chicken. Roll the pita bread and topped with the sauce of tahini.

Some Useful Tips
- One can increase or decrease the quantity of green chilies into the chicken according to your taste.
- The chicken can be greased with butter and can be cooked in an oven instead of following the above process.
