Double Ka Meetha
Brief Description
Double ka meetha is a famous bread pudding dessert which is made of fried bread slices. These fried bread slices are soaked in hot milk with spices and also includes cardamom and saffron to prepare it. Double ka meetha is related to the milk bread and is also called as “Double roti” because after baking, it becomes double of its original size. Double ka meetha is one of the most popular dessert of Hyderabad. It is famous in Hyderabadi cuisine and is generally served at parties and weddings. This recipe is much similar to shahi tukda which is famous in Pakistani cuisine and is one of the most popular dessert in Mughlai cuisine. It is generally prepared at the occasion of Eid and festive month of Ramadan. The main ingredient which is used to prepare it is condensed milk, bread and dry fruits.

Preparation
- Take the bread and cut its edges. Now cut the bread diagonally and allow it to air dry (under fan) or sun dry so that much oil is not absorbed.

- Take cashew nuts and raisins and fry them separately in ghee. Set it aside.
- Allow the milk to boil and then add kesari color in it.
How to make Double ka Meetha
- Take the sugar and soak it with adequate quantity of water. Bring it to boil and add the cardamom powder in it and make sugar syrup such that it is neither thick nor thin.
- Take the fried bread and add it to the sugar syrup. Allow it to cook for few minutes.
- Now add milk and allow it to cook on low flame without cover so that it attains a semi solid state and make sure it does not become dry.
- Use raisins, cashew nuts, toasted almonds and pistachio for garnishing.
- Serve cold or warm as you like and enjoy it.
