Mung Halwa
Brief Description
Mung Dal Halwa is a sweet Indian delicacy made from yellow split moong dal, sugar, and ghee and flavored with cardamom powder. It is more delicious, mouthwatering, fragrant shiny and scenic and beneficial for health. Learn how to make by following this recipe.
Preparation Time 10 minutes Time for cooking 20 minutes Serves 4 Ingredients For Mung Dal Halwa
- Moong Daal (split yellow lentils) - 2 cups
- Ghee - 2 cups
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Water - 2 cups
- Green cardamom split - 6 pods
- Khoya (see recipe below) - 1 cup
- Finely chopped mixed dried fruits of your choice - 1 cup
How to make Mung Dal Halwa
- Take the moong dal and wash, drain nicely. Put it for one night in the water.
- Now grate it nicely to a smooth paste. Keep in mind there is no need to add water at the time of grinding.
- To make sugar syrup, add sugar and water and put it on average heat. Cook it till the desired consistency is reached. Switch off the gas and add cardamom to it. Set aside for later use.
- In a pan, heat ghee on average flame till hot. Add moong dal paste to it and knead well.
- Allow to cook it till the golden color and release its aroma. Add the khoya and blend nicely. Cook it for about 2-3 minutes.
- Now transfer it into the sugar syrup and blend it well. Cook on an average heat about 6-7 minutes and keep stirring regularly.
- Now mix the dry fruits and cook it some more time (2-3 minutes). Switch off the heat.
- Sprinkle with cashew nuts and serve.
Some Useful Tips
- Always make halwa on average flame along with continuous stirring otherwise it will burnt quickly.
- You can use hot water or milk as per your choice and always using fried dry fruits before serving.
