Gulab Jamun
Brief Description
Gulab jamun is delicious and delightful dessert. It is most famous cheese-based sweet that is made all over India and subcontinent like Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The term literally means “Lalmohan” in Nepal, and got its name because people loved it too much they couldn’t get enough of it, always asking for second helping. It is made by all purpose flour, unsalted butter, milk, baking soda, sugar, water, oil, grounded cardamom and almonds.
Preparation Time Minutes - 20-25 Cook Time Minutes - 10-15 Serves People - 4 Ingredients For Gulab Jamun
- Milk powder (nonfat) - 1 cup
- All Purpose flour (plain flour, maida) - 1/4 cup
- Unsalted butter - 3 tablespoons
- Milk (Room temperature whole) - 1/4 cup
- baking soda – A Pinch
- Sugar - 1 3/4 cup
- Water - 1 1/2 cup
- Cardamom seeds (Coarsely grounded) - 4
- Pistachio and Almonds Sliced - 1 tbsp
- For Fry - Oil
How to make Gulab Jamun
Syrup:
- Add sugar and water in a pan, boil it on average flame and add the cardamom seeds to it. Keep stirring regularly till the sugar melt. Now switch off the flame. Keep it aside.
Gulab Jamun:
- Mix milk powder, all purpose flour and baking soda in a bowl. Mix the butter to it and knead well.
- To prepare dough, transfer the milk into it till it becomes thick. Keep aside for few minutes.
- Take care dough should not too thick, if it is too thick then add some milk to make softy.
- Stir it well and working with the dough greased your hands with butter.
- Make 20 equal parts of the dough and roll them informing of circle.
- In a pan, heat oil on average flame. Check if the oil is heat well, transfer the small balls into the pan one by one and fry it till it becomes double in volume. Make sure always use wide or deep pan.
- Allow to cook it for 7-10 minutes to fry it till the dark brown.
- Take them out from the pan and set aside for few time.
- Now transfer it into the sugar syrup. Place it about half an hour for nicely serving.
- Gulab Jamun is ready to enjoy eating and serve. You can store it for a week at room temperature or month when refrigerated.
