Balushahi
Brief Description
Balushahi or balusai is a famous Indian sweet. It’s delicious and mouthwatering sweet and everyone known about its great taste. It is made with pure Desi Ghee, baking soda, strained yogurt. It is easy and quick to make by following this recipe.
Preparation Time Minutes - 20-30 Cook Time Minutes - 15-20 Serves People - 4 Ingredients For Balushahi
- 1½ cup - Refined flour
- 2 pinches - Baking soda
- 4 tbsp - Ghee for dough
- 3 tbsp - Yogurt
- 2 tsp - Water to make dough
- Ghee - for deep frying
For sugar syrup
- 2 cup - Sugar
- 1 cup - Water
- 2 - Green cardamoms
For Garnishing
2 tbsp - Pistachio, sliveredHow to make Balushahi
To make the Sugar Syrup
- In a Pan, add water and sugar, place it on average flame. Boil it till the desired consistency is reached. Make sure sugar syrup not too thick. Set aside for 10 minutes.
- Now discard the skin then grind the cardamoms. Transfer it into the sugar syrup. Set aside.
To make the Balushahi
- Sieve all purpose flour (maida) and baking soda in a bowl. Transfer the ghee into it and knead well.
- Mix the curd (dahi). Blend well and prepare thick dough. Add water into it (if required).
- Now set it for few hours and cover it with wet cloth.
- Now cut the dough into 18 parts, Prepare balls and press it with the help of your palms.
- Take ghee and heat it on average heat. Drop the balushahi in the ghee and fry it on average flame till it becomes pinkish red color.
- Now catch them out the balushahi and sewer onto the paper. Keep it aside to cool completely for 15 minutes.
- Now place it into the sugar syrup. And keep them in it for 30 minutes.
- Now put the balushahi in the plate about one hour to dry up well.
- Now when you will see the white layer on the top of the balushahi it means it is ready. Enjoy eating and serve.

Some Useful Tips
- You can use use oil for the preparation of balushahi instead of ghee if you want to.
- You can use remaining sugar syrup for making Halwa.
