Sohan Halwa
Brief Description
Sohan Halwa is one of the most famous and traditional Indian sweet that is made all over India. It is made from maida, dry fruits and milk. Sohan Halwa is easy to make by following this recipe.
Time to Prepare Minutes -15-20 Time for cooking Minutes -30-40 Serves 4 Ingredients For Sohan Halwa
- Corn flour - 1 cup
- Almonds (badam) - 1 cup
- Pistachios - 1/2 cup
- Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
- Red or yellow coloring - 2 drops
- Sugar - 3 1/4 cups
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Pure ghee - 8 tbsp
- Cardamom (elaichi) powder - 2 tbsp
How to make Sohan Halwa
- Soak pistachios and almonds in the warm water about 5 minutes. Strain, disbar and piece very finely.
- Add color along with lemon juice and set aside.
- Add sugar in the water and boil it for about 5 minutes. Mix milk into it and heat it again. Switch off the flame and drain it via muslin cloth.
- Melt cornstarch in water and transfer it into the syrup. Allow to cook it till it leaves lump. Add the color to it. Keep stirring continuously.
- Add ghee occasionally at the time of sticking mixture in the bottom of the pan. Add cardamom powder and almonds (finely slice) and pistachios. Set aside some nuts for sprinkling.
- In a grease plate, place halwa to it and garnish it with pistachios and almonds.
- Set aside to cool completely and cut it into preferred size and shape.
