Jalebi
Brief Description
Jalebi is more delicious and mouthwatering sweet that is made all over India, especially North India. It is most famous and makes great breakfast dish. Jalebi is really easy to make in your own kitchen with just few ingredients. This irresistible dish is a favorite for all, for its beautiful flavors that come out of the delightful concoction.
Preparation Time Minutes - 5 Cook Time Minutes - 10-15 Serves 4 Ingredients For Jalebi

For batter:
- All purpose flour(Maida) - 1/2 cup(100gms)
- Corn starch or rice flour - 2 tbsp(30gms)
- yogurt/Curd(Dahi) - 1 cup
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Baking soda or powder - A pinch
- I use just pinch of turmeric powder - Orange color(Optional)
- Saffron powder(Kesar) - A pinch
- Cardamom powder(optional) - 1/8 tsp
- Water
For Sugar Syrup:
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Water - 1/2 cup or as needed-take water just till sugar is soaked. If you take more water, it will Take longer to get right consistancy.
- Lime/lemon juice - 1 tbsp
- Rose syrup(If available) - 1 tsp
- Strands of saffron(Kesar) - Few
- Cardamom powder(Elaichi) - 1/4 tsp
For Frying:
- Oil
How to make Jalebi
For batter:
- Add yogurt (dahi) in a bowl and knead well, add maida, turmeric powder, corn starch and blend it nicely to remove lumps.
- Now add water (if required) for making batter. When it is done keep it aside for about 24 hour to ferment.
- Now mix saffron, oil and baking powder and knead properly.
For syrup:
- To prepare sugar syrup, add sugar and water and mix well. Now add few drops of lime juice in the syrup and keep stirring regularly.
- Now mix rose syrup, saffron strands and cardamom, Knead well.
- Now switch off the stove and remove the pan. Keep aside.
Making jalebi:
- In a deep pan, heat oil to fry jalebi, hold the zip log bag (piping bag or squeeze bottle can be used) and prepare a hole and fill the batter and that you can pass via.
- Now transfer the batter into the hot oil to fry via slightly press with your hands and fry it till the golden brown.
- Take them out from the oil and drain it, immediately transfer it into the syrup and gather it in a plate.
- Jalebi is ready to enjoy eating and serve warm.
