Brief Description
Fish Fry is among the most popular dishes. With this easy-to-follow recipe, fish fry can be prepared in no time.
Time to prepare Fifteen minutes Time to cook Thirty minutes Number of serves Four serves Ingredients for Fish Fry:
- 800 grams of Fish That Has White Flesh
- Half Tablespoon Of Turmeric Which Is Grounded
- Half Tablespoon Of Salt
- Two Thirds Of Mustard Oil
- Half Tablespoon Of Coriander Seeds Which Are Grounded
- One Tablespoon Of Cumin Seeds Which Are Grounded
- One And A Half Teaspoon Of Ginger That Is Grated Finely
- Half Teaspoon Of Powdered Red Chili
- Half Teaspoon Of Salt
- One Fourth Teaspoon Of Kalonji
- Four Pieces Of Red Chillies That Are Completely Dry
- Two Pieces Of Bay Leaves
- One Large Onion That Is Chopped And Peeled
- Three Pieces Of Green Chillies
How To Make Fish Fry
- Rub salt and turmeric on the fish. Keep the fish aside for ten to fifteen minutes.
- Take a non-sticking pan. Add oil and heat it on a mild flame.
- Take the pieces of fish and put them one by one in the pan. Fry them till they are brown.
- Pick up the pieces of fish and keep them on any utensil such as plate.
- Take salt (1/2 tsp), powdered chillies (cayenne pepper), turmeric (1 tsp), ginger, the cumin, and coriander seeds (grounded) in a bowl and mix the ingredients well.
- Add water (3 tbsp) to the mixture.
- Heat the oil, which is left over, in a pan on a mild flame.
- Add Kalonji to the pan. Thereafter add red chillies.
- Put in bay leaves as Kalonji get a shade darker
- Add onion when bay leaves turn dark brownish.
- Add paste when onions turn light brown.
- Put the fish pieces one by one in the pan. Add water, around one cup.
- Spread red chilies over each piece.
- Let the fish pieces simmer for two minutes.
- Spread the sauce on pieces of fish and cover the pan.
- Leave the pieces for 15 to 20 minutes on simmering heat.
- Serve hot.

- The Fish Fry recipe is similar to many other fish recipes. You can go ahead and add more pepper powder, ginger garlic paste, masala powders etc.
- You can serve this recipe with steamed rice and dal. It is a simple meal without much spices and does not makes the stomach heavy.
