Brief Description
The hindi word for pumpkin is kaddu. And all you will find in this recipe is pumpkin so it’s a must try for all the pumpkin lovers.
Best thing is to try the kaddu sabzi with pooris. It also goes well with plain parathas, phulkas and ajwain parathas. During the fast, one can try it with kuttu ki poori – these are pooris prepared from buckwheat flour.
Total Preparation Time 20 minutes Total Cooking Time 10 minutes Servings 4 Ingredients of Kaddu Poori
- 500 g of Cooked Pumpkin
- 350 grams of Wheat Flour
- 75 gms of Gram
- Salt According to The Taste
- ½ teaspoon of Parsley
- A table Spoon of Oil
- For Frying Puriya Use Oil
How to make Kaddu Poori
- Peel the pumpkin and remove the seeds from it and then cut it into some big pieces. Now wash the pieces and pour 1 cup of water in it and put it in the cooker. Wait till 1 whistle
- Clean the gram flour and wheat flour in a bowl and add some oil, salt, carom seeds and boiled pumpkin into the mixture. Make sure all the ingredients are mixed properly. The mixture should be kneaded without water. Boiled pumpkin is enough to knead the flour but still if required you can add small amount of water. The dough should be covered and kept aside for 20 minutes.
- Put some oil on your palms and start kneading the flour again so as to grease it. Prepare as many balls as you can from the dough.
- Now start heating the oil in a pan. Meanwhile, roll one dough ball on a roller board and convert it into a flat disc shape of 3-31/2 inch. Take 1 poori in the pan and start frying it until it gets brown. Now flip and turn while frying the puri it so that it rises up.
- The delicious Pumpkin Pooris are ready to serve. You can serve the prepared pooris with cauliflower recipe, aloo matar recipe, chutney or pickle, cauliflower potato recipe.

Some Useful Tips
- The centre part should be pressed lightly with the frying pan while frying the puri, this will help it in puffing up.
- Chole masala used in recipe is a mixture of many spices which is easily available at almost all grocery stores.
