Brief Description
Dal Puri is a special stuffed Puri which is prepared on major ceremonies or festivals. It takes a little longer time than the normal one but once it is prepared it can be used for number of days. Use Urad Dal along with Green Gram Dal to prepare this Puri. By following this simple method we will learn how to make Dal Puri.
Total Preparation Time 15 minutes Total Cooking Time 15 minutes Servings 4 Ingredients of Dal Puri
- Bengal Gram-2 cups
- Turmeric Powder-½ tsp
- Flour -4 cups
- Use Oil or Ghee For Frying
- Add Salt According to Taste
- Cumin Powder-2 tsp Roasted
How to make Dal Puri
- The dal should be boiled along with salt and turmeric till it tenders. Drain it and grind it properly to make a thick paste.
- Now add cumin powder to the paste and mix it.
- Now mix flour with some water to get tight and smooth dough.
- Make small balls from the dough and make a deep hole in each of the prepared ball.
- Now each ball should be filled with a spoon of dal and it should be sealed tightly.
- Now roll the balls to make it in circle form.
- Now some ghee or oil should be heated in a deep frying pan and then start frying 2-3 puris at a time, till the time it becomes golden brown from both sides and do this on medium-high heat.
- It can be served hot with any chutney or curry.

Some Useful Tips
- The centre part should be pressed lightly with the frying pan while frying the puri, this will help it in puffing up.
- Chole masala used in recipe is a mixture of many spices which is easily available at almost all grocery stores.
