Brief Description
Pepper Roti is popular in Tobago and Trinidad. Stuffing can be done with mashed potatoes, cheese, carrots, and crushed pepper. Thus called as pepper roti.
Total Preparation Time 15 minutes Total Cooking Time 30 minutes Servings 4 Ingredients of Pepper Roti
For Roti
- Flour- 3 cups
- Finely Grated Carrot- 1 cup
- Baki -3 tablespoon
- Salt Acc to Taste
- Sugar Acc to Taste
- Water- 1 1/2 cup
- Oil- 1 tablespoon
- Butter- 2 tablespoon
For Stuffing
- Hot Peppers- 4
- Mashed Potatoes- 2 cups
- Chadon Beni- 40 leaves
- Garlic- 10 cloves
- Chopped Onion- ¼ cup
- Grated Cheese - ½ cup
- Salt Acc to Taste
- Chopped Pimento Peppers- 2
How to make Pepper Roti
- Squeeze out excess water from crushed potatoes.
- Use of coriander leaves would be preferable instead of chandon beni.
- Acc to your taste use hot pepper.
- Mix all the ingredients into a mixing bowl to make dough.
- Make small equal portion of balls from the dough and give them a disc shape.
- Preheat the tava, place the roti on tava, apply some ghee and cook.
- This roti took about 15-20 minutes in cooking because of stuffing.
- Cook until the color changes to light brown on both the sides.
- Serve hot.
