Brief Description
Maharastrian breakfast includes an important recipe of Rasa Vada. Basic Vadai accounts for some of the overwhelming dishes such as Rasa Vada recipe - from Rasa Vadai to Thayir Vadai and Sambar Vadai all are amazing in tastes and one more to include Vadakari. All these varieties are delicious and all people enjoy preparations like Rasa Vada preparation.
Preparation Time 20 minutes Cooking Time 20 minutes Serves 18 vadas Ingredients for Rasa Vada:-
- Vada:
- 150 Gms Of Thoor Dhal
- Onion About 1 Medium(Chopped Finely)
- Green Chilies About 2(Chopped Finely)
- Garlic About 2 Flakes
- Red Chilly Powder About1/4 Tsp
- Curry Leaves About 2 Sprigs
- Saunf/Fennel About 1/4 Tsp
- Salt For Taste
- Oil To Fry
Rasa
- Cuminseeds About 1 Tsp
- Peppercorns About 11/2 Tsp
- Garlic About 5-6 Flakes
- Tamarind About 1 Tbsp
- 2 Tomatoes
- 4-5 Stems Of Coriander Leaves
- 2 Tsp Of Chilly Powder
- 2 Tsp Of Coriander Powder
- 1/4 Tsp Of Turmeric Powder
- 1 Tsp Of Asafetida
- Salt For Taste
For Tempering
- 2 Tsp Of Oil
- 1/4 Tsp Of Mustard Seeds
- 3(Halved)Of Dried Red Chilies
- 2 Sprigs Of Curry Leaves
- Method Involved In Preparation:
How To MakeRasa Vada
Vada:
- Drain and wash the dhal after soaking it for about 2-3 hours
- Without water grind the dhal in slow and slight manner
- After mixing the ingredients completely prepare small balls of sizes according to your choice
- Heat the oil properly in pan
- Wet your palms and after that flatten all the balls and fry them in medium hot oil
- Fry both the sides regularly until they become crispy and drained.
Rasa:
- Use 1-cup water for soaking tamarind for 30 minutes and after that extract the pulp.
- Grind cumin seeds with peppercorn to form coarse paste along with addition of little water
- Crush garlic and than keep it aside
- Cut each of the tomato in about 8 pieces
- Add some seeds of mustard to oil heated in saucepan, leave it for crackling
- Fry the mixture for about minute after addition of red chilies along with curry leaves.
- Add garlic, sauté and cumin-pepper paste until it goes fragrant
- Add Chilly-Coriander-Turmeric Powder and then fry it for about 1 minute on low heat.
- Add pulp of tamarind along with 3 water cups and proceed the entire procedure of heating and boiling at mild temperature
- Add asafoetida, salt, tomato pieces and for taste along with coriander leaves for carrying boiling procedure.
- After addition of Vadas keep cooking them until they turn swollen and become soft on low flame to finish Rasa Vada preparation.
