Brief Description
Bellam Paramannam or jiggery is among the sweetest popular dish of South Indian cuisine. It is the creamy rice desser which is considered the dish with a difference. Sweetness in this dish is prepared with the use of ingredient “jiggery” which is further flavored with the use of cardamom. This dish is wonderfully cold and is usually served like puja prasadam on special festivals like Sankranthi (the harvest festival)
Jaggery Rice Preparation Time
For preparing this dish you are required to have time of at least 10 minutes and further cooking time of 30 minutes is also required. Following recipe has been prepared in order to serve the dish to four people.
Ingredients for Jaggery Rice
Following ingredients are to be arranged in order to prepare this dish.
- 2.5 Cups Of Basmati Rice (Should Be Rinsed And Soaked)
- Cloves -6 in numbers
- 350 gm of Jiggery (Small Pieces)
- 1 tbsp of Powdered Cardamom
- 3 tbsp of Sliced Almonds
- Half A Cup Of Ghee
How To Make Jaggery Rice
- This rice is prepared with the simple instructions that have been mentioned as below.
- Rice is cooked in the boiling water in a pot until the cloves of rice turn soft. This is to be drained softly.
- Now in the next step ghee is heated in the pan. After that jaggery is added in the same, it is turned sweet. Cardamom powder as well as rice is added in the same in order to provide flavor to it.
- It must be ensured that cardamom is added as and when the jiggery has started melting.
- Once it has been prepared it is garnished with almonds and it is better if it is served hot.
