Description In Brief
Rasam is next to nothing when it comes to the tastiest dishes which have rice as the main stapled food. Rasams are widely available on various restaurants where it is mostly available in the form of tomato rasam. Tomatoes have low calorie level besides having low amount of fat. Tomatoes are very rich in dietary-fibers as well as vitamins. In order to prepare this dish it is better if you go through the following description.
Time Required For Spicy Tomato Preparation
Preparation time required is that of 5 minutes
Cooking Time: Further Cooking time of 25 minutes is required in order to cook it
Serves: Following guidelines should be used to serve this to 12 units.Required Ingredients For Tomato Rasam
- 2 Fresh tomatoes
- A Handful Of Coriander Leaves
- Green Chillies
- Garlic 2-3
- 10 Peppercorns
- 2 Tbsp Of Cumin Seeds
- Seeds of Fennel (1 tbsp)
- Curry Leaves (6-7)
- Lemon Sized Ball of Tamarind (in case of use of paste 1 tbsp is used)
Ingredients For Seasoning
- One Table Spoon Of Oil
- 1tbsp Seeds of mustard
- 1 tbsp of urad dal
- A Pinch Of Asafetida
- 2 Red-Chilies (Whole)
- A Quarter Tbsp Seeds of cumin
How To Make Spicy-Tomato-Rasam
- Tomatoes as well as coriander leaves are grounded in the first step. After making coarse paste of the same, it is kept aside for a certain time-period.
- Cumin seeds, garlic, peppercorns including fennel seeds are now grounded. However, it is to be ensured that it does not turn into a thick paste. After pulsing it twice, it should be removed.
- Now in the next step ground tomato paste (obtained in the first step) and ground garlic is mixed in the small bowl and it is stirred softly by adding further certain amount of water.
- It should be mixed altogether and further turmeric powder is added. At the same time salt is also added as pert the requirements.
- It is mixed all together along with turmeric powder and salt as per the taste. To ensure the sourness water is added.
- Oil is now heated in the kadai in which mustard seeds are added, followed by asafetida and cumin seeds. Curry leaves and chili powder is also added.
- When it starts sputtering rasam mixture is added to the same in the kadhai.
- After it is boiled it should be removed from heat and garnished with coriander leaves and is served.
