This Popular Dish also known as Lamb Dhansak is quite famous, Parsi Lamp Recipes are either made of lamb, best part for this dish being it can be turned all together as a vegetarian. Another quality is it can be stored for some time and eaten the next day which even exceeds the earlier taste. Parsi Lamp Recipes details are as follows:
Ingredients:
- 100 gms of red dal ( Lentil)
- 500 gms of butternut squash ( properly peeled and divided into equal chunks)
- 2 Onions ( chopped not finely)
- 400 gms of finely cut tomatoes
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder.
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1½ tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1½ tsp Coriander Seeds
- 4 squashed cardamom seeds.
- 1 tbsp of edible Oil
- 400 g lean diced and scrimped Lamb
- Some finely chopped ginger.
- 4 crushed Garlic cloves.
- 3 green chilies cut into small pieces.
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- A small bunch of coriander and mint leaves.
Method Of Making Parsi Lamp Recipes
- Mix lentils, onions, butternut squash and tomatoes properly in a thick based pan.
- Add salt and turmeric powder to the mixture.
- Add some water to it so that the consistency lightens up a little.
- Take some Cardamom, Coriander and Cumins seed and put them on a heated pan without oil to roast and make into a fine powder.
- Fry the lamb pieces in a pan until they become brown and remove them on to a plate.
- Add all the roasted spice powder and let it simmer for 2 minutes.
- Add Chillies, garlic, ginger and cook for few minutes and then add lamb pieces, lentils, onions and tomatoes.
- Now let it simmer for almost around an hour or so till the lamb pieces lightens up and softens and continue doing the same till the sauce thickens.
- Put Garam Masala and coriander on top.
- Tastes best when taken hot along with steamed rice and Indian breads.
