    Indian Rice Recipes

    Rice preparations are very famous in India and they are found in almost all of the states, with each state preparing its own variety of rice preparations. These Indian rice preparations range from vegetarian rice preparations that are served in hindu temples to non-vegetarian rice preparations that are made on several occasions and most importantly rice based sweets and desserts.

    In north India, wheat is the staple food and also rice is consumed in less quantity in comparison to south India. But, special rice preparations are made on special occasions such as festivals, parties or get togethers, etc. Biryani and Pulao are two one of the most recognized Indian Rice preparations.

    In Indian rice recipes Biryani and Pulao preparations take a special place. They are prepared in combination with rice, Indian spices or Garam Masala which include pepper, cloves, Malabar leaves or Bay leaves, Mace blades, cumin seeds, cardamom, nutmeg, star arise, coriander seeds and meat such as chicken, mutton, fish or prawns or with vegetables. Such rice preparations are eaten by people all over India. Each state has its own way of preparing Biryani or pulao in a different manner where the methods of preparation along with few ingredients vary. These variations give unique flavor to each of the Indian rice preparations. Such Indian rice recipes are very famous as they are very good to taste with different type of ingredients and preparation methods.

    On the other hand, there are other kinds of Indian rice preparations include the very famous south Indian rice recipes. South Indian rice recipes are different from north Indian rice preparations. Some of the famous south Indian rice preparations include Puliogore, Bisi bele Bhat, Vangi Bhat, Kesari Bhat, Khara Bhat, Chitranna, Curd rice, mango rice, lemon rice, etc These are some of the very famous south Indian rice preparations.

    Indian rice preparations are not only limited to hot and spicy preparations but also sweet and dessert preparations. One can find various types of sweets and desserts made from rice. Some of the very well known North Indian and south Indian rice recipes for sweet and desserts include Kheer, Meethe Chaval, Saffron Sweet Rice, Sweet Pongal, Neyyappam, Payasam or Paramanna, etc. These are famous sweet rice preparations apart from the regular rice preparations that are found.

    Nowadays, it is easy to find Indian rice recipes through many cookery books, CDs and online, as many websites are offering recipes with detailed instructions to prepare these wonderful dishes at the comfort of one’s home.
