Usha Kiran Palace

Usha Kiran palace is in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is a royal heritage which depicts the royal culture of those times. It is an ancient hotel which has been built on an area of 9 acre close to Gwalior fort, Jai Vilas Mahal and Captain Roop Singh stadium. It is 120 years old palace, beautifully built with lawns, arched bridges, flowering trees along with the shimmering fountains. The palace built its own history due to very delicate work of filigree and stone carvings. The Hotel is having 40 rooms along with 8 suites. The interiors of the palace are well furnished and royal facilities are provided inside the palace. Delicacies of various types like Continental, Indian and Asian are available for the customers.

There is a Jiva Spa inside the Palace which offers Indian therapies, Yoga along with beauty treatments. It is equipped and surrounded by both single and double seater rooms. It also provides facilities of all kinds like games for both adults and children of all age like chess, pool, cricket, table tennis, badminton, billiards, boating etc. There is a room for yoga and aerobics separately.

History

Usha Kiran Palace was built in the year 1902. Initially, it was the house for Prince of Wales's visitors but later on it became Jayaji Rao Scindia's guest house. Vijayarae Scindia was brought here after his marriage. The Palace was soon converted into the form of a hotel by Priya Darshani Raje Scindia. Since 1930, the tradition was followed in the Palace by using the elevators of rosewood along with the ceiling fans of two blades. The Palace is enclosed by rich deciduous trees, forests, hills and wetlands. It represents the ethnic spirit of the monuments and scriptures of that period in Gwalior city.

Architecture

Usha Kiran Palace has exotic rooms of various colors that would easily match the choice of the visitor. The rooms of the Palace were very nicely decorated and it had a lot of space inside with very elegant furniture which had an aristocratic splendor. The arrangements of the beds were in a manner such that air comes directly on to the bed and also the ceiling fan is placed in a manner that it is in the centre of the bed giving direct air. It has rooms of every class including luxurious, comfort, deluxe etc which an availability of room for corporate travelers, honeymooners, professionals, premium customers and tourists.

How to reach

The Usha Kiran palace is more or less a hotel and it is very easy to reach here. Various tourist guides are also available all the time to provide guidance to reach the palace. The palace lies near to the Gwalior fort which is one of the very famous monuments of Gwalior, almost everybody knows about this so it becomes a landmark for the visitors to locate the Palace. All the means of transport are available to and fro from the Palace.

By Air

There is a Gwalior airport in the city of Gwalior. It takes about 11 minutes time to reach the airport from the Gwalior Railway station as it is at a distance of only 6 kms. Most of the flights connect Gwalior from various cities.

By Rail

The Gwalior Junction is the main railway station of Gwalior which is only at a distance of 1 km from the Palace. Trains of all the routes are available from Gwalior which stops at all the big cities. It takes only 5-7 minutes to reach the Palace from the railway station.

By Road

It is easy to drive to and fro from Gwalior by road. There is also bus facility of all kinds available which makes it easier to commute. Tourist agents are also there to guide to reach the Palace.
