Rambagh Palace
The Rambagh Palace is one the very most exquisite of all palaces that has ever been constructed in the whole of India. Celebrities from all over the world come here to celebrate and enjoy their vacations. This tourist hot spot has been mentioned in magazines, books and many documentaries.
History
\The Rambagh Palace is one of the most famous of all tourist destinations. It was built back in 1835 for the then Queen's loved handmaiden. Kesar Badaram received her modest scale built Palace which was later converted into a hunting lodge and a guesthouse as well. The mansion thereafter was renamed to Rambagh after Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II.
The palace has now been converted into a Hotel run by the Taj group of hotels. Visitors however are still allowed to enjoy tours even till date.
Architecture
The palace was started out as a lodge for the gardens in the 19th century and was built by queen's court. There were beautiful flowers planted and trees installed in the gardens besides large pools. With the Kota designer - Sir Swinton Jacob, Maharaja Ram Singh II refurbished the gardens. Corridors and marble halls were added along with big courtyards. The Palace grounds encompass about 47 acres of lands. This Jewel of Jaipur as it has become well known has had many additions of fine details to its Rajput style of architecture. The palace has a miniature golf course too. The different art collections and luxurious furnishings make this palace truly one of a kind.
Best time to Visit
The best time to visit this palace is from the months of October till February.
How to Reach
Air
A taxi from the Jaipur Airport should take one directly to the Rambagh Palace for a small fee. It takes about a 20-25 minute drive to get here.
Road
One can catch a local bus to the Rambagh Palace or can even hire a cab.
