Falaknuma Palace
It is indeed a very beautiful palace in Hyderabad. The owner of the palace was the Paigah Hyderabad State. The palace was later belonged to the Nizams. The palace is sprawled in a 32 acre plot of land in Falaknuma which is just 5 km from the place known as Charminar. The palace was constructed by Nawab Vicar-ul-Umra.
Architecture
It was designed by an English architect. The foundation stone was laid by Vicar-ul-Umra Bahadur in the year 1884. The palace took almost nine years to complete. The palace has been made entirely from Italian marbles.
It has been built to resemble a scorpion having two stings which are spread out in the form of wings facing the north. It consist of 222 opulent rooms and 22 roomy halls. It is the 40 Venetian chandeliers which are the major draw of the palace
History
The palace was used as a private residence by Amir-e-Paigah Sir Vicar-ul-Umra until it was given to the 6th Nizam of Hyderabad during the period of 1897-1898. It was later on used as a royal guest house since it had a beautiful view of the entire city.
How to Reach
In order to reach Falaknuma Palace, Begumpet is the nearest Airport. It can also be conveniently be reached by train from the Begumpet Station, Hyderabad Station and the Secunderabad Station which are the nearest railway stations. The place is also well connected by all the major roadways.
Best Time To Visit
October to March is the ideal time to visit the Falaknuma Palace.
