Kanakakkunnu is a palace located in Trivandrum, Kerala. Kanakakkunnu palace has been used for various meets and cultural programs. Due to its unique and beautiful luscious greenery, the palace also been used for Dance Festivals of All India Dance Festival by the state Department of Tourism. The program occurs during the month of October to March. People enjoy the Indian Classical Dance during this awesome festival and cultural event in the royal palace.
History
Kanakakkunnu palace was related to the royal families. But as per the anecdotes, it is said that it was built by Sree Moolam Thirunal. Since its inaugural, the palace was used for celebrating grand events and festivals. In majority, the palace had been crowded whenever there were guests to this royal family. The family offered them non-vegetarian food although the family was purely vegetarian.
As of today, the palace is under the surveillance of the Department of Tourism, Kerala. The department looks after its maintenance and other necessary steps to keep it clean as the royal heritage of ancient culture and tradition.

The Kanakakkunnu palace had been built in a quaint Kerala architectural style at that time. According to historical documents, the palace was built in 18th century. The main area of the palace was used for entertainment of the guests and the members of the family to have delicious food party.
