The Amber Palace, what it is known today, was built over the relics of this previous structure by Raja Man Singh, who incidentally happened to be the ruler of this place. This fort was further extended by his successor, Jai Singh I. In fact, as time passed, Amer Fort continued to undergo renovations by successive rulers until the next 150 years, till Jaipur was declared the capital city under the reign of Sawai Jai Singh II, in 1727.
