Zuari River
This Zuari River is regarded as the largest river in Goa, India. It is also known as the tidal river and has a total length of 30 kilometers. This Zuari River originates from Hemad-Barshem originating from Western Ghats. Zuari River has been referred to as Aghanashani in interiors region and this flow in the south-west direction through Ponda, Tiswadi, Mormugao, Sanguem, Quepem and Salcete Talukas. This River is regarded as the backbone of agricultural industry of Goa. Zuari River has been linked with Cumbarjuem Canal and it also enables the ships to navigate in interior regions till the iron ore mine. The water present in Zuari and Mandovi rivers flushes out into the Arabian Sea which is the common point of forming the Mormugao harbor. Goa, also known as the port city, lies on mouth of Zuari River.
How to Reach
In order to check out this river, you will have to visit through the Konkan Bridge or Zuari Bridge and this has been constructed between southern Goa and Northern Goa. It carries Konkan railway over the Zuari River tidal part, which is Carambolim south. This bridge got completed in 3 years and is approximately 1300 meters long.
