Milak River

Milak River has been situated in Mokokchung district in Nagaland, India. The nearest town to this river is Naga Town and it has been located 40 kms south towards Tuli. Langpangkong Range rises from above of Melak plains and which is effectively marked by the gentle and rolling plains. Tuli is one of the most populous towns that are located near to this river in Mokokchung district present in Nagaland.

Present Situation

The present situation seems not to be as good, since Tuli town was flooded because of this Milak River. This has been overflowing all the embankments and this is mainly because of the incessant rainfall taking place in Nagaland. According to different sources, there are many families that have been affected due to floods and localities have started migrating to a safer and higher place. However, this seems to be one of the most dangerous trends as river had been trying hard to change the course and this has have exerted a great impact on different areas. The major concern is of providing lifeline to this Mokokchung - NH61 as more than 50 percent of road has been swallowed by this river. Localities of this place specifically Nagaland and Assam have been registering complaints and in case, if NH 61 is eroded and then entire town will have no room for the communications.
