Machkund River
Machkund River is also popular by the name of Sileru River and this flow towards the Southern east central India. It has been situated at eastern limit of Dandakaranya region.
Course
It rises in the Eastern Ghats present in the north eastern part of Andhra Pradesh and then flow towards northern region towards the Jalaput Reservoir which is on the border along with the Orissa state. Later on, it leaves this reservoir and then Sileru makes a sharp bend towards the southwestern region and flows at a stretch to form the border between Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. During the southern west ward course, this river is in a parallel direction towards the mountain ranges in south east and its channel is at the elevation of two thousand to three thousand feet. This is approximately six hundred till nine hundred meters above the sea level. This river gets emptied into Sabari River present opposite to Konta. Construction of hydroelectric dams also has been done on this river at the Jalaput Reservoir. Alongwith that, upper as well as lower courses of this river are prime sources of power in this region.
